Using Visual Strategies to Improve Communication, Address Behavior and Support Learning

Target Audience: Early Elementary

Many students are visual learners. This means that they understand what they see better than what they hear. While recognizing that there are different learning styles among all students, most will benefit from visual supports. Capitalizing on a child's strengths, the use of visual strategies to facilitate communications and teach skills has provided the support necessary to address many social, communication, behavior and educational challenges. A variety of visual supports that are successful in improving communication will be demonstrated. Participants will also learn simple solutions to the behavior and social challenges of students with communcation deficits. The use of visual strategies is appropriate for students of all ages and ability levels.
